The launch needed 3D payment-particle sequences: the motion, the physics and the behaviour of the particles all had to be conceptualised before a frame could be built.

Working from Visa's brand direction, a workflow for lighting and compositing the particles, and — with the post-production supervisor — the semi-fluid, semi-gaseous physical properties that give the particles their character.

Concept art and motion demonstrations first, so the behaviour was agreed before the shot count grew.

Over half the VFX shots in the final piece, plus the concept work the rest were built against.
